TIA, yes, This Is Africa, absolutely Africa!!!
Stuffed with the ravages of the civil war in the 1990s in Sierra Leon and people's quest for the diamonds, Edward Zwick concieved a thrilling, action as well as emotional movie, 'Blood Diamond'.
Leonardo DiCaprio stars as Danny Archer, an African diamond smuggler with a military background who is searching for a way out of a country engulfed in civil war, but he can't exit as he know very secrets of the conflict diamonds. On the other hand, the impeccable Djimon Hounsou plays Solomon Vandy, an African fisherman whose village is pillaged by an African civil uprising gang. Though his family escapes, Solomon is kidnapped by the gang and thrown into a forced labor camp where he finds the largest diamond anyone has ever seen.
The two met in a prison and Danny's quest for the diamond makes them to take dash through the blood thirsty bullets and bombs. Meanwhile Danny meets an American journalist Maddy Bowen, played by cute Jennifer Connelly, who pushes Danny to spit out the story of diamond traffickling.
As Danny uses Solomon's love towards his lost family, Maddy exploits Danny's need for her official help. Anyhow, the three blend with each other through the uncertain situations that they faces on their 'safari', and help and care each other without any hidden agenda.
Though Danny crosses all the bloody hurdles, he couldn't leave Africa. He witnesses his own end in that land of hostility. That may be the touching scene of the entire film. He puts hand full of sand from that outrageous land mixed with his greedy blood for diamond. Yes, its really bloody.
